Mountain Flying in Switzerland Part 3: Col de Jaman
Welcome back to your Mountain Flight in Switzerland. This last leg of your round trip flight takes you from Saanen, over Château-d’Œx and up to the Col de Jaman mountain pass. After successfully crossing the pass you will be rewarded with an amazing view of Lake Geneva. Your scenic flight also takes you over Evian, France, the home of the world famous mountain spring water. The chief flight instructor from the Aeroclub de Genève will help you navigate, handle all the radio communications, and point out some areas of interest along your route. As usual, it will be up to you to safely arrive at your destination, which on this leg is back on the grass runway in Geneva. You are the Pilot in Command!

Saanen traffic, this is Cessna CHW, we’re just over Gstaad and about to enter base for runway 26. Do you want to take-off before we get there?
Make sure you’re not drifting too far off your heading of 260 degrees. We want to be heading up this valley. Try to keep that little river on your left in sight. 260 degrees should be good.
On the other side of the lake, on my side, is the town of Lausanne. The International Olympic Committee has its headquarters there. Also, Lausanne has two major universities so the town has a lively nightlife with a great arts community. There are a number of quality museums, including of course, the Olympic Museum. It’s a nice place to visit, perhaps next time you’re in the area.
